  • 3:00pm Hors d'oeuvres - On the dock. Be ready to present your best hors d'oeuvres for judging in taste and presentation. Partaking requires participation!
  • 4:00pm Awards - On the dock.

Monday

The start date for the next edition of sailing's greatest Corinthian challenge has been set. The Transatlantic Race 2025 will depart Newport, RI on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 headed for the southern coast of England. A virtual gate off Lizard Point will enable teams to challenge the course record for this historic passage, but the official finish will take place off the Royal Yacht Squadron's waterfront castle in Cowes, England.

The Transatlantic Race 2025, is a direct descendant of the first great transatlantic ocean race, which started from New York Harbor on December 11, 1866. In the years since, this course has been plied with less frequency than other, shorter offshore race tracks; the 2025 edition will be just the 32nd transatlantic race organized by the New York Yacht Club. Because of that, and the fact that a race from the United States to Europe (or the return) is virtually guaranteed at least one significant storm, simply finishing a transatlantic race remains one of sailing's most coveted accomplishments.

The Organizing Authority of the TR2025 is comprised of the New York Yacht Club Regatta Association, Inc and the Royal Ocean Racing Club. Together with the support of their partners, the Royal Yacht Squadron and Storm Trysail Club, these renowned sailing established will ensure this edition of the Transatlantic Race will be a memorable one.

First signal will be at 1200 Friday with the start at Flashing Red Bell "32" (The Cows) off Stamford Harbor.

Labor Day weekend's Vineyard Race is a classic American yachting event. This 238-mile course stretches from Shippan Point through the swirling currents of Plum Gut past Block Island, and on to the light tower at the entrance to Buzzard's Bay. Once reached, sailors return by leaving Block Island to starboard en route to the finish in Stamford Harbor.

Begun in 1932, it has attracted the finest sailors and fastest boats for nearly 80 years, and its intricacies and challenges bring them back time after time. Those who are successful nearly always credit local knowledge of these tricky waters and a good deal of luck.

The Vineyard Race was described in Yachting Magazine as, "The greatest distance races of the world have several things in common - a challenging course, competitive fleets and an interesting array of famous yachts. By those standards, the Stamford Yacht Club's Vineyard Race rates close to the top. Like a miniature Fastnet, the Vineyard has a combination of coastal cruising, where currents play a big role, a stretch of ocean sailing, and a mark to round - the Buzzards Bay tower - before returning."
